Parked in Time: Capturing Route 66’s First Hundred Miles

Few roads capture the spirit of adventure like Route 66, and few cars epitomize that spirit more than a vintage 1962 Corvette. When we teamed up with Heritage Corridor Destinations to highlight The First Hundred Miles of Route 66, we knew we wanted to craft something truly iconic—celebrating the nostalgia, charm, and stories of America’s Main Street.

This large project was a road trip filled with revisiting historic attractions, vibrant murals, and hidden gems. But the real challenge? Ensuring our beautiful ‘62 Corvette appeared in the same spot at every destination along the way.

The Challenge: One Corvette, Many Stops

Route 66 is brimming with character at every turn, from retro diners to striking murals. We wanted to capture this rich history while anchoring the visuals with the Corvette as a constant thread—tying each scene together into a cohesive narrative. This meant meticulous planning to place the car in just the right position, lighting, and angle at each location.

Each stop brought its own set of challenges. Streets were busy, weather was unpredictable, and some locations demanded creative problem-solving to make our vision come to life. But the effort was worth it. The Corvette became more than just a prop—it was a symbol of the open road and the timeless allure of Route 66.

Capturing the Magic of Route 66

We created a variety of videos for this project, each with its own creative flair, to showcase the depth of experiences The First Hundred Miles has to offer. From quirky roadside attractions to breathtaking murals, every frame was designed to evoke the nostalgia and charm of this historic route.

Some highlights included:

  • Retro Murals: Bringing the Corvette to life against vibrant backdrops celebrating the history of Route 66.

  • Hidden Gems: Exploring lesser-known spots that gave the road its unique character.

  • The Open Road: Wide, sweeping shots of the Corvette cruising down iconic stretches of the highway.

Why We Loved This Project

This collaboration with Heritage Corridor Destinations wasn’t just about making a film; it was about celebrating a piece of American culture.

For us, this project was a reminder of why we do what we do. It challenged us creatively, pushed our technical skills, and let us blend storytelling with a touch of nostalgia.
